What if senior year became the launchpad for a career?

Beginning Fall 2027, FlexTech Pathways will give qualified High School seniors the opportunity to spend a significant portion of their senior year immersed in technical education at Manhattan Tech.

Students will step beyond the traditional high school schedule to earn college credit, build hands-on skills, work toward an industry-recognized credential, and gain real-world experience—all while completing their senior year.

Donations to Manhattan Tech through Wamego Match Day will help provide scholarships for Wamego High School students participating in FlexTech Pathways, helping reduce financial barriers as they take this important first step toward a high-demand career.

FlexTech students can pursue pathways in:

Wamego Center

In 2018–19, Manhattan Area Technical College set out with a vision: to expand career and technical education opportunities in Wamego. That vision began to take shape with the acquisition of the former Bluestem Electric Cooperative facility near Wamego High School.

Since 2021, Manhattan Tech has been renovating the site to house programs in welding, electrical training, general education, and more. Courses will be available at the Wamego Center, in area high schools, online, and in hybrid formats. While the main campus will remain in Manhattan, the Wamego Center will allow students to complete general education courses and gain hands-on workforce training in high-demand fields critical to the region’s growth.

Looking ahead, plans are underway to expand offerings even further, with programs in plumbing, early childhood education, and cybersecurity under discussion. Your support can help make these opportunities a reality—enhancing the Wamego Center, funding scholarships, and opening more doors for students to build their future through Manhattan Area Technical College.

FlexTech Pathways creates a new way for Wamego High School seniors to think about their final year of high school.

Instead of waiting until after graduation to begin technical training, participating students can spend much of their senior year at Manhattan Tech, learning alongside college students in hands-on labs and classrooms.

Monday through Thursday, students train at Manhattan Tech. Fridays provide opportunities to take those skills into the workplace through Occupational Work Experience (OWE).

By the time they graduate from Wamego High School, FlexTech students can already have:

College credit
Hands-on technical training
Progress toward an industry-recognized credential
Real-world occupational experience
Connections with employers
A head start on a high-demand career

FlexTech Pathways is about more than earning college credit. It's about connecting education directly to opportunity.

Students can learn the technical skills employers need, gain experience in real work environments, and begin building relationships within the industries that could become their careers.

For Wamego, that means creating another pathway for local students to build successful futures while helping develop the skilled workforce our region depends on.
