Specific Need

The goal of this project is to provide the structure and new surface needed in the area of the old tennis courts to create 2 full size basketball courts and 6 pickleball courts.

The Friends of the Park's mission is to enhance and improve the city park for the benefit of all members of the community.  

Profile

Hoops anyone? How about playing pickleball? The Friends of the Park is excited to be working with the City of Wamego on a needed improvement project in our city park. The old tennis courts are gone and the new concrete for two full size basketball courts and six pickleball courts! The area will be available for a wide array of people of all ages and to offer activities for the entire community to enjoy. The plan is to install a surface that will prevent cracking and provide a long-term, quality solution to the area.  In addition to the new court surface and paint, the lighting would be upgraded for safety as well as improving the fencing around the area.

Including an upgraded concrete the estimated cost for the project completion is between $350,000 - $400,000. The City of Wamego will be funding much of the cost; however, remaining funds still need to be raised in order to bring the project to completion by the Fall of 2022. The Wamego Friends of the Park Organization has raised $100,000 so far.  The remaining amount needed is $25,000.
