Crisis Center, Inc.

Specific Need

Thank you for choosing to support victims and survivors!  You are helping people be safe and live a life free from abuse and violence.

Your support to The Crisis Center, Inc. on Wamego Match Day helps some of our most vulnerable community members - victims and survivors of abuse and violence - all year long.  Your gift is matched, creating an even bigger impact that allows us to reach more victims and survivors with our life-saving services.

The Crisis Center's services are 365/24/7, and all services are completely free.  Residents in our safe shelter can stay as long as needed while they work with our advocates to rebuild their lives after escaping abuse in their own homes.  All food, toiletries, and amenities are provided at no cost.  We truly rely on support from our community to make this possible!

Please take a minute to watch our new shelter videos on our profile that highlight how Match Day gifts from prior years have been used to make a difference in our community - all BECAUSE OF YOU and your support!

Our specific needs this year include:

  • Staffing for direct services and programming.
    • Since moving into our new safe shelter at the end of July 2022, we have more than doubled the amount of bed nights we were providing in a full year in our old shelter, without additional staffing.
    • 5,788 bed nights have been provided in our new safe shelter in the year since moving.  Before, we averaged 2,000+ bed nights in our old shelter.
  • Core operations and administration costs.
    • The utilities at our new safe shelter are more than double what they were before.  More space + more people = more expense!
    • We have already had two bathrooms flood that necessitated repairs at our new safe shelter facility.  This is inevitable in a facility that is a communal living environment - anything can happen - but support is needed to cover unplanned repairs and maintenance.
    • We are working on continued outreach to our community, reaching more victims and survivors with information about the Crisis Center, our services, and how to reach us.  This increased visibility and outreach results in growth.
