Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan-Wamego Site

Goal: $10,000.00

Specific Need

Invest in Great Futures!

Since opening our Wamego Site doors in August of 2014, this program has grown to serving 196 individuals a year and nearly 115 a day at our After-School, No-School Day, and Summer Programming at Central Elementary.

USD 320 has requested to expand our meaningful programming from Central Elementary to include a West Elementary Site. This expansion will allow us to implement age specific programming to the 3rd-5th Grade Students focusing on Youth Leadership, Healthy Lifestyles, Academics, Arts, and more!

Help us to GROW our program offerings in the Wamego Community through this wonderful day of giving.

To inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

In 2018, the Boys and Girls Club of Manhattan served 2,813 youth in Manhattan and Wamego, with an average of 932 each day. With the help of the Club, families have a safe, fun, and educational place for their children before and after-school, in-service days, and during spring and summer school breaks.

We serve:

34% of USD 383 (Manhattan/Ogden) students

16% of USD 320 (Wamego) students

40% of our members receive Free or Reduced Lunch Services

30% of our members are from single-parent homes

9% of our members are from military families

Services provided by the Boys & Girls Club are reduced to ensure affordability for our families.

Annual membership (calendar year) $30. This membership fee is waived for children receiving State health insurance and all active and reserve military members.

The cost to the Club is $1,260 per school year per child.

We charge families just $200/ semester or $400 for the school year. Families have the option of volunteering to cover half the cost of a semester fee. For qualifying families, the Club can provide up to a 50% scholarship for programs.

The Club works to make up the difference of the actual cost of the Club with fundraising events, grants, individual and corporate giving, and third party events such as Grow Green Match Day.

In 2018...

* 1,715 Club members participated in homework help/educational activities during Club hours.

* 83,435 visits to educational activities at the Club, totaling

*6,281 hours of educational activity time

In 2018...

The Club awarded $83,890 in scholarships to 273 members.

Every $1 invested in the Boys & Girls Club returns $9.60 in current and future earnings/cost savings to our community.

Will you help us to make a difference in the youth of our Community?
