Pawnee Mental Health Services, Inc.

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

This year at the Wamego Match Day Pawneeis raising money for our Crisis Stabilization Unit. In 2019, we received a grant from the Goldstein Foundation to help pay for the construction of the CSU. As such, this grant matches any money received for the building project, $1 for $1. Therefore, by supporting Pawnee in this Match Day, your gift is not only enhanced through the Match Day event but is then doubled by the Goldstein Match.  Simplistically, a gift of $50 turns in to $150 after both matches.

In November 2019, Pawnee Mental Health opened the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). One of only 5 in the State the facilty provides community members in Pawnee's10 county service area a place where those who are experiencing a mental health crisis can receive evaluation and treatment. The facility has 11 beds that allow for voluntary overnight stays so that clients can continue to be monitored 24 hours  a day.

The CSU is valuable not only to the community members in need of its services but to the Wamego and Pottawatomie County community as a whole, by taking the burden off of police, EMTs and hospital emergency room staff by giving them a place where people with a mental health crisis can immediately receive help. Having this option avoids unnecessary jail stays or opens up ER rooms for people in need of the services that the ER is most trained to handle. Research shows that for every $1 spent in support of the CSU that communities save $2 in unnecessary services.

The mission of Pawnee is to provide comprehensive quality mental health and substance use treatment and recovery services to strengthen the wellness of our communities.

Pawnee Mental Health Services (Pawnee) is a private not-for-profit community mental health center (CMHC) and substance use treatment facility offering a full range of outpatient services including emergency services, individual and group psychotherapy, medication services, case management, psychosocial rehabilitation and education in ten counties in North Central Kansas.
