Kansas Courage to Teach and Lead

Goal: $15,000.00

Specific Need

Think of a teacher you have had (or one your own child has had) in your life that has made a positive, powerful, and long-lasting difference in you ....and ask yourself how can I support these culture heroes in Wamego?

INVEST IN OUR CULTURE HEROES!

YOU CAN HELP RETAIN AND SUSTAIN OUR LOCAL TEACHERS IN USD 320!!!

The Kansas Courage to Teach & Lead Fund exists for the purpose of providing opportunities to help Wamego USD 320 educators rediscover their identity and integrity, providing them with both personal and professional development that helps sustain and retain them in their profession.  These opportunities include full three-day retreats and/or one-day workshops that are designed and facilitated by trained facilitators through the Center for Courage & Renewal; Dr. Mary Kaye Siebert is the sole facilitator in Kansas at this time.  Courage to Teach & Lead (Parker J. Palmer) offerings include the following objectives:

  • develop a stronger sense of purpose, renewed commitment and increased satisfaction with work in the classrooms and schools
  • develop a heightened sense of personal and professional renewal, readiness to return to work refreshed and energized
  • increase capacity to be fully present in work settings by providing a reprieve from the hectic bustle of teaching and leading
  • expand capacity to be resilient and purposeful in one's work as an educator

The Kansas Courage to Teach & Lead Fund provides scholarships for educators in Wamego USD 320 to participate in Courage to Teach & Lead retreats/workshops.  Scholarships offset costs for the retreat registrations, materials, food and housing; retreats are held at Rock Springs 4-H Center.  By contributing to the Kansas Courage to Teach & Lead Fund, this work can continue to be offered to educators in our community and will serve to help sustain and retain our best Wamego educators in their profession.
